Originally from Dunwoody, GA, Alex Sears writes fashion, fauna, medicine, apocalyptic retail experiences, and just plain growing up, stories typically condensed into Southern-fried Gothic prose poetry. She studied with Sam Lipsyte, Samantha Gillison, and Robert Coover, and has tried her best to teach fiction to high school and college students. By day, she’s a shop girl, sometimes wishes she were Flannery O’Connor, or at least could eat okra with Flannery O’Connor. She also bakes bean puree into unsuspecting desserts in her Brooklyn kitchen.
